For a software or IT-services LLP, the principal NIC-2008 code in Form FiLLiP is 62011 — “Writing, modifying, testing of computer program to meet the needs of a particular client, excluding web-page designing.” Select it as the primary activity; the form fills in division 62 automatically.

62011 is for bespoke development built for clients. If the LLP will sell a packaged product or a SaaS licence rather than build to order, that is 58202 (publishing of applications). Pure website design is 62012; ongoing support and AMC is 62013; IT consultancy, systems integration and managed services is 62020; anything that still does not fit is 62099.

Most software LLPs list 62011 as primary with 62020 and 62012 as secondary activities. Avoid 74909 (“other professional activities”) — Registrars routinely reject it as too generic for a technology name. Keep the LLP Agreement main-object clause specific (“designing, developing, testing and maintaining computer software and applications”): a “TechXYZ LLP” name with a vague or mismatched object is a standard resubmission reason. A foreign-funded software LLP has no NIC restriction here — IT services are 100% automatic-route FDI.

Bespoke development for clients is 62011. Publishing and licensing your own packaged software or SaaS product is 58202. If you do both, list the one that will earn the larger share of revenue as primary.

Is web development a different NIC code from software development?

Yes. Application and back-end development is 62011; designing web pages is 62012. An LLP that does both usually lists 62011 primary and 62012 secondary.

Can a software LLP also do IT consulting under one code?

IT consultancy, facilities management and systems integration is 62020, a separate sub-class. FiLLiP lets you list up to three activities, so you can carry 62011 and 62020 together with one marked primary.
